In this month’s Allure Magazine, there is an article on liposuction. For the most part it was informative, but there were a couple of comments that are just not true: for instance, that 20% of patients request a re-do. The physician who was quoted is a dermatologist. For the record, less than 1% of my liposuction patients undergo revision.
The article also comments on injectable medications for fat dissolution and appropriately points out these medications are not FDA approved. Laser liposuction is still being promoted to shrink skin, but to my eye, the effects are minimal and there is a lot of disappointment because of it. Make sure you seek out a board certified plastic surgeon before deciding to pursue any of these treatments. You will be happy you did.
