Choose a Surgeon, Not a Procedure

Gathering facts about plastic surgery from the Internet can be like comparing apples and oranges. This is because many sites rebrand plastic surgery procedures with their own descriptors. For example, one surgeon’s “mini facelift” may be another’s “short-scar lift.” Additionally, popular procedures you read about on the Web may not be appropriate to your goals, even though they sound right. It is often difficult to see past the marketing hype.

If you are confused by the jargon surrounding cosmetic procedures, I welcome the opportunity to help you sort through the terminology.

I begin by making this simple recommendation: Choose a board certified plastic surgeon with experience and proven results, then jointly decide on a plan to achieve your goals.

Each patient must have her own personalized plan for aesthetic enhancement because each individual presents unique circumstances to consider. Partnering with a skilled plastic surgeon can help you fully understand the options you have and identify which approach is best for you.

In consultations with my patients we discuss all areas of concern, and my skills and experience help me recommend the best cosmetic surgery options. Every surgical plan I develop varies to some degree. Through in-depth discussions, my patients and I decide on a targeted approach, free of lingo, with clear expectations.

Shopping on the Internet for a cosmetic procedure and then telling your doctor what you want is putting the cart before the horse. Choose an experienced surgeon who listens and communicates clearly with you. This partnership is the key to surgical success.
