Occasionally, Dr. Flint will perform a mini tummy tuck on a patient who does not have loose skin or muscle separation. This procedure uses a smaller incision, similar to a C-section. However, it does not produce the same dramatic results that a full tummy tuck can, which is why Dr. Flint rarely recommends this option.
Tummy Tuck Recovery & Aftercare
A tummy tuck takes between an hour and a half and three hours, depending on the patient’s size and the extent of correction needed. Patients remain in our recovery center the night after surgery for additional care and monitoring. They may go home the following morning, with a drainage tube exiting from their incision, prescriptions for muscle relaxants, and pain medication to keep them comfortable.
Drains are removed after approximately five days. Patients may shower a couple of days after surgery. Most return to work within two weeks, although lifting is not allowed for six weeks. Patients may experience some swelling for eight to twelve weeks. Once swelling subsides, the results are dramatic, permanent, and satisfying.
