Your initial liposuction consultation is an important part of the process, as Dr. Flint will walk you through the potential risks, possible results, and the recovery process of the procedure. Each patient is different, and results will vary based on your anatomy and skin elasticity, as well as your overall goals. Patient education is a top priority for Dr. Flint, as the more educated patients are, the better they are at making decisions about their aesthetic care.
You should come to your consultation prepared with questions for Dr. Flint about the procedure steps, the recovery process, and potential results. Dr. Flint will be honest with you and encourage you to make the best decision for yourself. What to Expect During Liposuction

During surgery, Dr. Flint will make very small, hidden incisions around the treatment area. Through the incisions, she will insert a thin metal tube to instill tumescent fluid into the treatment areas and then insert a hollow cannula that is attached to suction to remove the desired amount of fat. She will carefully take out the fat with slow, even movements to ensure a natural-looking result and to follow the body’s natural contours.
Liposuction Recovery & Aftercare
Dr. Flint will have you rest in the recovery room for about one hour after surgery, ensuring you are reacting to the anesthesia well. You will be discharged into the care of a friend or family member who can bring you home. You will be placed in a soft compression garment to be worn day and night, per Dr. Flint’s instructions. This garment helps reduce swelling and bruising and aids in skin retraction.
Expect some bruising, swelling, and slight soreness. Discomfort after liposuction is generally well-tolerated and should improve quickly. Dr. Flint will schedule follow-up appointments with you for one week, three weeks, and four months after your procedure to monitor your progress.
Most patients can return to work after one week, but be sure to care for yourself by getting plenty of rest, following Dr. Flint’s recovery instructions, and calling the office if you have any questions.
