Mastopexy in Scottsdale - Mesa Arizona

It is very common for women I see in my practice to complain that they are unhappy with the shape of their breasts and to request a breast augmentation. However, a portion of these patients will report that they are happy with their breast size and do not necessarily desire to be larger. Weight loss, child-bearing and genetics can all result in breasts that are droopy. A breast lift, called mastopexy, results in correction of the drooping and does not require a size change. The procedure also can assist in helping to correct asymmetry, which is also a very common problem.

There are many different types of breast lifts available. Many patients desire to keep their scars as short as possible and request “short scar breast lifts.” While certain patients are good candidates for these lifts, most women that are larger than a B cup will develop early relapse of drooping with this type of lift, or other unfavorable trade-offs. These may include spreading of the areola, or flattening of the surface of the breasts. Each patient requires an exam by a board certified plastic surgeon to determine which lift will accomplish their goals and minimize any potential down side.

Some women desire not only to correct drooping, but to improve or accentuate fullness in the upper pole of the breast above the nipple. Generally this result is obtained by adding an implant to the procedure. Even with an implant, it is not always necessary to significantly increase the size of the breast. With conservative size moderate projection implants, the implant is used solely as shape maintenance assistant.

Surprisingly to many of my patients, the recovery from a mastopexy is quick and involves minimal discomfort. Most of my patients are off of their medications within three to five days and can return to work within a week. No lifting or exercise is allowed for three weeks. If you are unhappy with your breast shape, please make a consultation appointment with my staff so that we may discuss your options for improvement.

For a mastopexy surgery in Scottsdale and in Mesa Arizona contact female board certified plastic surgeon Patti Flint, M.D.
