Dr. Flint finds facial rejuvenation to be one of the most exciting parts of her practice. New products and new treatments are developed each year. She thoroughly researches each new offering prior to prescribing it to her patients. Many patients use products sold over the counter at department stores to attempt to correct folds and wrinkles in their faces. Over the counter products are very heavily marketed, unfortunately, they are not capable of having any affect on deep furrows or wrinkles that are visible when the face is in a relaxed pose.
Injectable wrinkle fillers have been available for years. Each new product offers different potential benefits. Dr. Flint prefers hyaluronic acid products because they last about one year following injection, therefore fewer maintenance treatments are required. Juvederm is the product she uses, and it now comes with local anesthetic pre-mixed into the product for greater comfort during injection.
The results are immediate and create wonderful softening of wrinkles around the mouth, eyes, or in the forehead. This product can also be used to augment lips. In some cases, the use of fillers creates enough of an impact, that surgical procedures can be postponed. Dr. Flint uses filler in almost all of her facial rejuvenation surgery patients for an added boost in the result. With almost no down time associated, it is certainly worth speaking to Dr. Flint about.
Injection of Juvederm, a hyaluronic acid gel, into furrows or wrinkles on the face to diminish their appearance. Hyaluronic acid is contained in skin, so there is no potential for allergy.
This procedure can be done in the office without anesthesia or sedation. It takes approximately twenty to thirty minutes. Dr. Flint performs all of the injections herself. The results are immediate.
Dr. Flint will listen to your goals and examine you to determine if Juvederm is right for you. A plan will be designed for you. Injections can be provided on the day of consultation. Anti-inflammatory agents such as aspirin and ibuprophen are held one week prior to treatment to avoid bruising.
Discomfort is very minimal and bruising occurs in less than ten percent of patients. Ice is applied for a few minutes and then again in the evening. Swelling is minimal, except in the lips where it may last for several days. Results are immediate and last approximately one year.
