Breast Reduction in Mesa Arizona - Scottsdale
Breast reduction patients have reported one of the highest satisfaction ratings of all patients who undergo plastic surgery. Women with large breasts frequently suffer from neck and back pain, headaches, shoulder grooves, skin rashes and social stigmata. Relief from these problems occurs in well over ninety percent of patients who undergo the procedure.
Many patients have been told that body weight is directly related to breast size. This is certainly not true in all patients. I have cared for many patients who have lost large amounts of weight without a single bra cup size decrease. Breast reduction surgery is designed for patients whose breasts are too large for their frame and are suffering associated symptoms. There are also many patients who have not as of yet developed symptoms, but feel self-conscious about their large breasts and desire reduction of their breast size.
The surgery results in not only a down-sizing of the breast, but also correction of sagging tissues and removal of excess skin, which improves the shape and position of the breast. Improvement in size asymmetry can also be anticipated. Many women report their mammograms are more comfortable following breast reduction surgery, and self-breast exams are more easily accomplished.
Breast feeding may or may not be possible following breast reduction. This depends on the type of reduction that needs to be done, and the individual patient. It is rare to require a second breast reduction, even after child-bearing. Some women do however have a secondary lifting procedure if child-bearing results in recurrent drooping of the breast.
The procedure is performed as an out-patient and generally requires an approximately two hour general anesthesia. Soreness is mild. Most patients can return to work within a week. No lifting is allowed for three weeks. Shape improvements are obvious within three weeks. It is a well-tolerated procedure. I very frequently hear patients say, “I don’t know why I waited so long to have this done. I feel so much better!” Please contact my staff to arrange a consultation if you are considering breast reduction surgery.
